2016 Rio Olympics Venues outside Rio de Janeiro

The 2016 Rio Summer Olympics venues are classified into two main groups: venues within Rio de Janeiro and venues outside Rio de Janeiro. This post is about venues outside Rio, and they will host 2016 Summer Olympics men and women football matches.

As much as the host is Rio de Janeiro, there are five venues outside the host city. These five venues are in Belo Horizante, Brasilia, Manaus, Salvador and Sao Paulo

Belo Horinzante 2016 Summer Olympics venue

Belo Horizante, is the sixth largest city in Brazil and the 4th most populous city. It is the capital of Minas Gerais state in the southern Brazilian shore of the Atlantic Ocean.

The football matches that will be played at the Belo Horizante's Mineirao Stadium are detailed below.

Men Football matches to be held Mineirao Stadium

Belo Horizante’s Mineirao Stadium will host two group matches scheduled to take place on 10th of August. This stadium will also host one of the second stage match scheduled for the 13th of August as well as a men Bronze medal match on the 20th of August.

Women Football matches to be held Mineirao Stadium

The women matches to be hosted at this stadium will be two group matches scheduled for the 10th of August. Besides, on the 6th of August two more group matches will take place. Other women matches to be held at the Mineirao Stadium are a quarter finals slotted for 12th of August as well as a semifinal match on the 16th of August.

Brasilia 2016 Summer Olympics venue

Brasilia is the capital city of Brazil and is fairly a recent city have been established on April 1960.

Brasilia is also the federal capital of the State of Brasilia. It is the fourth most populous city in Brazil, located in the central western Brazilian highlands with and elevation of 1,172 meters above sea level.

Brasilia’s Mané Garrincha will be the venue for the Summer Olympics football match for both men and women as shown below.

Men Football matches to be held Mané Garrincha

The men football matches for the Summer Olympics football to be held at the Mané Garrincha are, four Group A matches on the 4th and 7th August.

Besides it will host one Group C match as well as one Group D match on the 10th of August. The final match for the men football will be held in the Brasilia stadium will be a second stage matches that will take place on the 13th of August.

Women Football matches to be held Mané Garrincha

Three Summer Olympics football port women matches will be held at the Mané Garrincha. Two Group E and F matches are scheduled to take place on the 9th of August. Another quarter final women football match will take place on the 12th of August.

Manaus 2016 Summer Olympics venue

The Amazon located Manaus city will the 2016 Summer Olympics football matches for both men and women. It is the seventh most populous city in Brazil and it’s known to get hot and humid due to its low elevation of about 50 meters above sea level and it location in an Equatorial climatic condition.

The Manus matches will be played at the city’s Arena da Amazônia

Men Football matches to be held Arena da Amazônia

The city’s Arena da Amazônia will be the venue for only four men Group B matches taking place on 4th and 7th of August.

Women Football matches to be held Arena da Amazônia

The stadium will host only two group women matches on the 9th of August for Groups G and E.

Sao Paulo 2016 Summer Olympics venue

The most populous and wealthiest of Brazil cities; Sao Paulo has a population of over 10 million people. It’s an ancient city have been established in 1554.

The Sao Paulo scheduled matches for the 2016 Summer Olympics football sport will be played at the Arena Corinthians.

Men Football matches to be held Arena Corinthians

There will be four football matches which are one match for the Group A and a Group B match both taking place on the 10th of August. On the 13th of August, a second stage match will take place and a quarter final match will close the curtain for the 2016 Summer Olympics football match on the 17th of August.

Women Football matches to be held Arena Corinthians

Four matches for the 2016 Summer Olympics women football sport for Group F will be played on the 3rd and 6th of August. A semifinal match for women will take place on the 12th of August with a Bronze match scheduled to take place at the Arena Corinthians on the 13th of August.

Salvador’s 2016 Summer Olympics venue

This was the first capital city of Brazil and it’s the third most populous city in Brazil. Established in 1549, its one of the oldest city in the Country.

Salvador’s Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova will be a fifth venue outside Rio that will host Summer Olympics football sport matches.

Men Football matches to be held Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova:

The men matches to be played at the Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova are four Group C matches on the 4th and 7th of August. Besides on the 10th of August one Group A match and a Group B match will take place.

A second stage match will be played on the 13th of August.

Women Football matches to be held Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova

There will be only three women football matches for the 2016 Summer Olympics football sport. Two will be Group F matches taking place on the 9th of August as well as a quarter final match taking place on the 12th of August.

There are other 2016 Summer Olympics football sport matches for both men and women that will also take place in Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium and Estádio Nilton Santos or commonly known as Olympic stadium.
